I think the NFL needs to stand by their contracts..... Priest Holmes is threatening to sit out this year if the Chiefs don't re-do his contract. He is currently set to make $2.5 million a year for the last 3 years of his contract. My first instinct is to say, "hey, you signed the contract, you stick to it. Go out and play, and be happy." Then I think about how the owners are allowed to drop players if they don't want their salary cap to take a hit. If the owners would honor their side of the contracts, I don't think the players would have as much of an argument about sitting out (although some would still probably do it).
My solution..... stick with what you sign in the contract. Owners: Don't make the salaries so big, if you're not going to honor them. Players: If you are going to be a better player then what you are signing for, get some incentives put into your contract.
