Is it me, or does it sound like Nolan Richardson WANTS the school to buyout his contract.

Is it me, or are there way to many Grammy categories..... and what is the difference between "Record of the Year" and "Album of the Year"???? "Record of the Year" must be an easier category since there are very few records out there nowadays (is "nowadays" one word?)

Well, to sum up yesterdays post on the BTT, Wisconsin will get the number one seed.... but seeds 2-6 are up for grabs.

Dork alert!!!!!

The Big Ten standings are crazy.... There could theoretically be 5 teams tied for first place going into the BTT.

Team Conf All Remaining
1 Indiana (23) 10-5 18-10 NW
2 Ohio St (18) 10-5 19-7 @Mich
3 Wisconsin 10-5 17-11 Mich
4 Illinois (19) 10-5 22-7 @Minn
5 Michigan St 9-6 18-10 Iowa

Here's how the tie-breakers roll out.....(Illinois and MSU can't win any tiebreakers)

2-way (head to head, then record vs highest rank team)
IU vs OSU - OSU (head to head - tie, vs wisc - tie, vs ill - osu(1-0 vs 1-1))
OSU vs Wis - Wis (head to head)
IU vs Wis - Wis (head to head)
Ill vs Wis - Wis (head to head)
IU vs Ill - IU (vs OSU) or ILL (vs Wisc) (if wisc or OSU has better record)
Ill vs OSU - OSU (head to head)

3-way (record against tied teams, record vs highest rank teams)
IU, OSU, Wis - WIS [IU(1-2) OSU(1-2) Wis(2-0)]
IU, OSU, Ill - OSU [IU(2-2) OSU(2-1) Ill(1-2)]
OSU, Wis, Ill - WIS [OSU(1-1) Wis(2-1) Ill(1-2)]

4-way (record against tied teams, record vs highest rank teams)
IU, OSU, Wis, Ill - WIS [IU(2-3) OSU(2-2) Wis(3-1) Ill(2-3)]

5-way (record against tied teams, record vs highest rank teams)
IU, OSU, Wis, Ill, MSU - WIS [IU(3-4) OSU(2-4) Wis(4-1) Ill(3-4) MSU(4-3)]

Long story short (too late)..... if Wisconsin Wins tonight over Michigan (which they probably will), they will have the #1 seed, as they have key wins over the top teams in the big ten to give them the tie-breaker.

Please note.... I could be wrong on this, as i figured it out myself
I don't think that I will be Watching Ellie very much. I wasn't too impressed by the commercials for it, but I figured I would give it a try. After watching until the first commercial, I only had one chuckle (maybe it was only a half chuckle), and that was a stupid joke when the vet asked the plumber how many finger he was holding up and he said, "both of them", which was followed by the vet holding up more fingers and asking how many now, and the plumber replied, "more". And that wasn't even that funny.

Once I got to the first commercial break, I couldn't stand it anymore, and watched the rest of "Let's Make a Deal" on Game Show Network. Again, I picked the wrong door and didn't win the big deal of the day.

What is the opposite of "wet behind the ears"??

If you are inexperienced when you are "wet behind the ears", once you are experienced, do you be come "dry behind the ears"? Or does the wetness go somewhere else, like you are "wet between the toes"?? Or possibly "wet between the butt cheeks"??
Here's an update on my post from earlier today...

I did some searching at the Secretary of State website and found an article titled "Protecting privacy, enhancing customer service top Secretary Miller’s 2000 accomplishments". In this article, Secretary Miller is quoted as saying:

"List sales can be a form of government intrusion into personal privacy. The concept of government profiting from selling personal information is offensive to many people. The banning of list sales for junk mail was one of the hallmarks of this year’s achievements in protecting privacy and the public trust"

I'm thinking something fishy is going on.
I have a question, but first, some background....

Yesterday, I was going through our mail, and came across a letter addressed to both me and my wife (not to "RESIDENT" or "Our Good Friends at"). It was from a somewhat local car repair-type place (i think) with some sort of coupon. I didn't think much of it, until i started reading the letter. I don't have it in front of me, but it said something like "Congratulations on your choice of selecting a preowned car instead of buying a new car." Here's what's happened. We recently transferred a car from my in-laws into our name at the Secretary of State office. This is the only place that would know about the transfer of the car's ownership. Does that mean that the Secretary of State office is selling our information???????

I don't mean to jump to conclusions, but I don't know where else this place would find out that we just transferred the car into our name. If this is indeed true, is it legal??? I need to do some research, but just thought i would pose the question in case anyone knew the answer.

P.S. See my comments on Zesty for the dork comment of the day.

I didn't catch the entire closing ceremonies last night, but KISS????? I didn't quite understand that one. Is that what we really want the world to associate with the US? They didn't even sound that good. Sometimes, you just have to let go. And what was with those dinosaurs? I think one lost a tooth at one point. Then they announced something about Wayne Gretzky coming, which was followed by Scott Hamilton. I thikn this was my first time watching a closing ceremony, and now i know why.

It should be an interesting final week to the Big Ten Conference regular season before the beginning of the Big Ten Tournament. Four teams still have a chance at claiming the number one seed (Indiana, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Illinois), and teams battling for one of the top 5 seeds to get the first round bye, or battling for those top 3 seeds to get a first round bye AND play against a team that played the previous night.

My brother isn't so sure that my opinion of Wisconsin having an 8 day rest isn't the best thing going into the tournament. Especially playing a team that would have played the previous night. They could come out flat in the first half, and dig themselves in a hole that they can't recover from. That being said, if they can make it through the first half without getting in too much of a hole, I think their chances of claiming the title are good (we're only talking Big Ten Tourny, not NCAA)

I was looking at the medal count, and the US is a few behind Germany.... but shouldn't we be way ahead?? I mean, we got about 20 more medals for Women's hockey last night. I think all those should count. And multiple should count for bobsled, relays, etc.

Woo hoo..... now this is a day i can relate to. But my question is, how does one celebrate it. If you are doing something to celebrate it, isn't that contradicting to slacking? I'm surprised someone got around to making it an actual day. Must not have been a very good slacker.

Hope you enjoy the new colors!!!

I know phone commercials in general just suck.... cell phones, long distance, ameritech, 10-10-whatever, collect.....

but i think they hit an all time low. I was watching a commercial for the 10-10-220(i think, whatever one is "all calls under 20 minutes for only $.99), and who is the newest "celebrity" on these commercials???/.......ALF?!?!?!?!?! That show hasn't been on for over TEN YEARS!!!!! I'm sure it made it into syndication somewhere, but probably had a short life, and hasn't even had reruns on for at least 5+ years. Is this the best that they could do??? ALF wasn't funny when he had his own show, so why is he supposed to be funny in these commercials??
Who's going to win the big ten tournament? Wisconsin.... as much as I don't want this to happen, I think it will, and here's why.

After last night's win over Iowa, Wisconsin holds a 10-5 conference record, and has at least a number 3 seed in the Big Ten Tourny (and could be as high as the number 1 seed), which also gives them the first round bye. While the rest of the Big Ten has either 3 or 4 games remaining, Wisconsin has only one left. They play Michigan at home next Wednesday. Regardless if they win or lose against Michigan (which they will probably win with Michigan's only road win this year coming at Penn State), the Badgers get to rest over the final weekend before the tournament while the remainder of the Big Ten play on March 2 or 3.

Wisconsin will enter the tournament with an 8 day rest, and only have to play 3 days in a row to win the tourny. In my opinion, a well rested team has the biggest advatage when playing 3 days straight.

Of course, what do I know. I'm just a dork :) Although i don't think i'll be going out on a limb when i say that the big ten champ will have red on their uniforms.
I would consider myself a pretty intelligent guy, but am i missing something from the recent emails being sent out about today's "symmetry time"...

in case you haven't heard, today at 8:02 PM, the date/time will be symmetrical (which is slightly odd, since it is using both "military time" and the european format for dates)

20:02, 20/02/2002

Supposedly, this is the last time that this will happen, although there are some emails that correct this saying that it will happen again in 2112 (on december 12 at 9:12PM... or something like that). but am i missing something??? I know i'm a math dork (there's another one for you bill) and enjoy number things, so I can appreciate this, but not the whole "It's the only time it will happen" thing. I do realize this is a "Special" one because it is only two numbers (2s and 0s). but that isn't being said in (most) emails (at least the ones i've seen).

what about the same time march 30th? that will be 20:02, 30/03, 2002. Is that not also symmetrical? and insert any symmetrical month date, like October 1(01/10), November 11 (11/11).

I haven't put much time into this, but there seems to be a number of times of having symmetry. If you argue that the 2002 is unique for the symmetry, lets go to next year
3:00 2/11/2003 ...... Symmetrical (either november 2, or february 11, depending on your month/day format)

I can keep going, but i won't.... you've been bored long enough (if you've gotten this far).

But if you have read this far, you are now being rewarded..... here are the answers to all (or most) of your questions regarding farts.

Are you like a biiiiiiiiiiiiiird? do you know where your home is?
With 31 games remaining, the Piston's Magic number to make the playoffs is 27...... ok, that's not saying much, but they are now tied for first in the division
If you have hit my site because you are looking for "I hate Jaime Sale" could you please tell me WHY???? I'm just curious how this could be??? What did she do that would cause you to hate her???

Also, if you hit my site because you are looking for "" what is it exactly that you are looking for??? You already have the URL so why are you looking for it????

I have had hits on both of these, and am really curious as to why!!!!!!!!! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!! I am a dork, and i need to know these things!!!!
Monday, February 18, 2002
oh yeah, and I made it over 1000 hits over the weekend. That is 1000 hits since sometime in October when I finally put a hit counter out there. Congratulations to whoever (or is it whomever) it was that was hit 1000.
I was watching Raiders of the Lost Ark last night on ABC, and during the scene where Indy drops down into the snakes on his way to the ark, he comes face to face with a cobra hissing at him...... I was surprised that I was able to see the reflection of the cobra. Indy was separated from the cobra by glass, and you could make out the reflection of the snake in the glass.

I know, I'm a dork, i get excited about these things....

Speaking of being a dork, the expansion draft starts in about an hour (it's 2:00 ET whilst I am typing this)

Canadian figure skaters Jamie Sale and David Pelletier were awarded Gold Medals today.... The French judge has been suspended..... the thing that i can't figure out is that if there was a conspiracy involved.... wouldn't the Russian judge have been in on it, too? and if so, shouldn't he/she be suspended as well?
I'm a dork..... I am getting excited for the Houston Texans Expansion Draft...... Is there something wrong with me, or is this normal?

Oh yeah, and when your making your lunch for tomorrow (if you follow the no-meat-Fridays practice) don't forget to make it a PBJ, or cheese, and not any meat. Sorry i forgot to remind you about that on Tuesday for Ash Wednesday.

I briefly considered give up blogging for Lent, but then i realized i might have disappointed the population of 4 people (who actually read my blog) by not blogging. Then again, maybe you would be happy that you wouldn't have my crap to read. Bill would be happy about not having to read my Mitch Albom comments, but I've given up trying understand Mitch Albom (not for lent, just in general).
I was going to comment on the current state of the Big Ten basketball standings, but I can't bring myself to do it....

Happy Valentine's Day!!!!!!

Happy Paczki Day!!!!!!!

Hope you were able to have at least one paczek today.
Monday, February 11, 2002
Why do I torture myself with Mitch Albom's crap? I hear of people praising him, so I give him a try every so often, and I regret it each time.

What a Whiner. He's complaining because he HAS to go to the Olympics. Hey Mitch, how much of this trip are you paying for? Oh, a free ride out to watch the world's greatest athletes compete. Man, that must be tough. And since these are sports you don't seem to care about, that must mean that NOBODY cares about them. Listen everyone.... the almighty Mitch has spoken, and the Winter Olympics are "cold and old", so let's just cancel them.

If it's so bad, don't complain about it, just don't go. I'm sure there are other qualified reporters (probably more so than you) that would love to cover the Olympics.

And Mitch, before you write something, there is a thing out there called "RESEARCH".... Look into it...
The winter games do not date back to Ancient Greece, they began in 1924 with the "International Sports Week 1924" which were retroactively named the First Olympic Winter Games.
And another thing, skeleton is NOT a new sport. Skeleton featured at the Winter Olympics of 1928 and 1948 (both held in St. Moritz).

Quit your whining, grow up, and be a professional.

I can't believe i forgot to blog about this earlier.

Being fortunate enough to watch CBC's coverage of the Olympics, they ran a hilarious commercial for Bud Light.

It was a spoof of a musical collection for sale. I won't ruin it, just visit and enjoy
The NBA West All-Stars beat the NBA East All-Stars yester...... oh wait, no one cares.
Oh yeah, and i thought the President did a wonderful job.... sitting with the athletes was way cool, in my opinion.
Did anyone else get annoyed by Bob Costas' lame comments during the opening ceremony? My memory is failing to remember some of the down right stupid comments that he made, but I remember there were quite a few of them.

at what point did we start using the word "queues" instead of "lines" in everyday conversation?
I had another bad experience with AT&T. If anyone has ever had to call AT&T with something other than ordering new service, and had a good experience, please let me know. I've had bad experiences with them before, and here's what happened last night.

I had AT&T long distance service at my previous residence. I have a different company now, so I didn't transfer my account, and just cancelled it (that was a fun call, too, but that's another story). There was a $5.93 credit to my account that i closed, so i called them to try and have them send a check out to me. After waiting about 5 minutes, I get in touch with a guy who takes my information, and I explain that i want a check, and he proceeds to try and sell me AT&T service. think about it. If i liked your service, don't you think i would have transferred it to my new house? I tell him that I'm not switching to AT&T and he continues to try and sell it to me. Repeatedly, I tell him "I'M NOT SWITCHING TO AT&T!!!" (yes, I did yell this into the phone at one point). After about 5 minutes of this, he says, "OK, well then, I will transfer you to the billing department so that they can take care of you." UGH!!!! Why the hell didn't you just do that right away?

After waiting another 5-10 minutes on hold, I get a lady who starts to process my request, and after about 5 minutes of trying, she says that it won't process the request and that I have to call the credit department, and gives me the number. I'm not really mad at her, cuz she tried to help. Well, by the time I gave them a call, they were closed for the evening..... so basically i wasted 20-30 minutes last night to find out that AT&T sucks!!!! And I already knew that!!!!!!

Stupid AT&T...... If I had a Hate List, AT&T would definitely be on it.

On The West Wing, what happened to Bruno and his gang??? they haven't been in the recent episodes.

BTW, During a commercial break of Ed last night, i flipped over to Let's Make a Deal and once again was unsuccessful at picking the right door for the big deal of the day. I again picked the lowest of the 3 doors. I keep saying door, but it's really a curtain.

What the heck happened to the Big Ten last night. The conference standings look really strange. I wouldn't be surprised if only 4 or 5 teams made it to the tourny.
Wednesday, February 06, 2002
I have to say, when I am watching Let's Make A Deal on the Game Show Network, I suck at the big deal of the day. I always pick the wrong door. Usually, I get the lowest of the three deals, but I don't seem to be able to get the big deal of the day.

Another amazing thing I found, is that occasionally, with a car or motorhome, they will give away gas. They give away 1000 gallons of gas and say it has a retail value of $350!!!!! that's $.35/gallon!!!!!! and the cars have a retail value of $3,000 - $7,000!!!!!!

Some of the Zonk prizes are kinda cool. I wonder if the contestants get to keep any of them?

My wife is usually confused at how my brain works.... so am I for that matter. One baffling phenomena that I don't understand is commercials. She is amazed at the amount of commercials that I know and/or make reference to, BUT.....

Being a guy, while watching a show on TV, when a commercial comes on, I instinctively grab the remote, and start flipping to watch something else, until the show comes back on. So how the heck to I know all these commercials if I don't watch commercials?

I remember hearing once:

"Two wrongs don't make a right, but three lefts do."
